Employees hate longer notice periods Company hate shorter notice periods ๐Ÿ˜…

But why there is notice period? When both parties have decided not to work together

Reasons :

  • Company invested in employee, and now needs maximum transfer of that investment so that it doesn't go waste.
  • Employee is handling some responsibilities right now. Company will face loss if that responsibilities handling person suddenly vanish.

  • Employee already made mind, and now no longer has that passion/mindset to invest in growth of company.

Company and employee, if not able to peacefully agree on something, adds negativity to their dynamics. It could be Appraisals, Leaves, Notice period time and it's objective .

Remember such conflicts, and HR mantra in such case? ( I love how it begins with peace, but ends up taking Company side most cases as HR is again employee of Company ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚)

Why care about Dynamics by both parties equally?

World is not big, People are connected across companies, across borders.

  • Company doesn't need bad reviews, because they are hidden knifes and can hurt them any point in life.
  • Employee shouldn't have bad reviews, because for other company it's a position to fill, but for you a job gets you basic necessities of life.
  • Neither of them should compromise because of fear, but neither of them should stretch each other boundaries for their benefits only. They should talk about how they can benefit each other. This will serve them benefit in long way.

What is happening ideally, which should be avoided?

  • Company need to understand that employee left them for reason. Respect the reason and treat them better in notice period. Or it's like hidden knife again.
  • Employee need to understand whatever is in past can't be changed. If they have something new coming up, feel great about it and let past go.
  • People making gossips of this situation, need to find something better to be busy in life ๐Ÿ˜‚.
  • People not able to talk about it, because others are looking for names as reason. You should be able to talk about it openly leaving personal details aside of topic. Everyone of us should be able to hear reason strategically and not personally. Because people are not the problem most times if you have carefully selected them one day, it's the system or environment which needs to improve around everyone.

Final Note

A connected society functions somewhat on basis of relations. World is not fair and you got to accept it unless you change it. So keep bad relations as less as possible.

When it's about relations, let go of people/entities instead of destroying your relations with them.

Revenge, Anger, Frustration gives nothing positive, nothing fruitful in return. All of us (Companies and Employees have to let go of them)

Work nicely, leave nicely, focus on your goals
